How to send email from an alias on your FourteenRockets mailbox on your Mac, and why we recommend Apple Mail instead of Outlook for this.
What is an alias?
An alias is an extra email address that’s connected to your existing mailbox. For example, hello@yourdomain.com as an alias of info@yourdomain.com. If someone sends an email to hello@yourdomain.com (the alias) you will receive that email in your main info@yourdomain.com mailbox.
Sending from the alias is where your email app matters, and that is what this guide covers. With most email programms you can decide from which email address you want to send an email, from the main mailbox email address or from an alias.
The honest answer about Outlook on Mac
Outlook for Mac cannot send from an alias from a main mailbox. Microsoft has confirmed that the feature simply is not available. There are workarounds, but they involve adding your mailbox a second time, which leaves you with a cluttered sidebar and confusing settings. We do not recommend this.
Our advice is to switch to Apple’s own Mail app. It is already on your Mac, it supports aliases natively, and it works with your mailbox exactly as it is. Below we explain how.
Webmail
With Webmail you can manage your email professionally from any browser, no software to install or configure. Read and write email safely from a computer, phone or tablet, wherever you are. Webmail supports alias email addresses without any further configuration.
Move to Apple Mail
If you switch to Apple Mail, then your mailbox has to be set up in Apple Mail. If it is not yet, do that first and come back to this guide. Webmail is the source of your all received and sent emails. When you switch to Apple Mail everything is synced from webmail.
